Questions: How do you think you could use RSS feeds at your library? How do you think patrons could use RSS feeds?
The topic of RSS has been briefly discussed amongst library staff. Currently, we use RSS on our home page (providing a feed for the "what's new" section) and via Onfolio to gather news feeds for the In the News section. At least a couple of the librarians use Bloglines to keep up with library stuff as well as health-related news. We are definitely up for figuring out other ways to use RSS!
I've taught some residents to use Bloglines for PubMed searches and journal TOCs. They seemed interested, but only one (out of six) came back to ask further questions as he set up his account. Keeping up with searches and TOCs will likely be what draws our patrons to using RSS in regards to medical information. I'm not sure at this point how many of our patrons are using RSS for personal stuff.
